Abstract
The Present Study Attempts To Know The Variations Among Work-Life Balance Practices As Well As The Relationship Between Work-Life Balance Practices And Organizational Commitment In The Context Of Health Care Organizations. The Research Is Descriptive In Nature And Consists Of 350 Respondents Of Doctors And Nurses From Six Public And Ten Private Hospitals In Varanasi City, (Up). A Structured Questionnaire Has Been Used To Gather Primary Data From Doctors And Nurses. Application Of Mann-Whitney U-Test Reveals That There Is Variability Among Public And Private Doctors And Nurses’ Salary/Wages (.033), Flexible Working Hours (.058), Job Security (.000), Creativity (.011) And Work Flexibility (.004). Further, The Result Of Pearson’S Correlation Reveals That There Is Existence Of Relationship Between Organizational Commitment And Location Of Workplace (.118), Friendly Environment (.218), Work Load (.244), Creativity (.154), Work Flexibility (.132) And Employee’S Welfare (.107). The Study Followed The ‘Social Exchange Theory’ Which Is The Basis For Leader-Member Exchange (Lmx; Sparrowe & Liden, 1997). This Occurs When An Individual Engages In Behaviour For Someone; They Expect To Receive Something In Return. Both Persons Involved Need To Offer The Other Something That Is Valuable And Reasonable, Or Fair (Graen & Scandura, 1987). This Study Contributes To The Literature By Further Emphasizing The Importance Of Work-Life Balance Support For Enhancing Organizational Commitment. It Would Be Beneficial For Hr Practitioner To Evaluate Current Policies And Procedures Related To Work-Life Balance And Make Adjustments Accordingly So That Employees Feel Supported And React Favourably Towards Their Organizations.
